Communal Harmony Week



We observed the National Communal Harmony Week under the aegis of National Foundation for Communal Harmony under the Union Home Ministry from November 19 to November 25. The Flag Day was also observed in the college. During the week-long programme, donation was collected by circulation of fund collection boxes. Different types of activities like essay competitions and drawing competitions were also organized. Principal Dr. S. Krishnasamy and office staff of the college along with the students participated in the event with enthusiasm.




General Health Checkup



One day General Health Checkup was conducted on 01.11.2017 (Wednesday) in collaboration with Health Club. The camp was inaugurated by Dr. N. R. Santhi Maheswari, Principal i/c. Dr. T. Balasubramanian and Dr. A. Senthil Ganesh from Kovilpatti Government Hospital, examined the students.

VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK CELEBRATION




            Vigilance Awareness week Celebrated in the theme “My vision Corruption free India” by our College NSS Units 51 & 52. In this connection the integrity Pledge was administered to the sstudents and staff members on 30.10.2017 (Monday) at 11:00 am. 
          On 1.11.2017 (Wednesday), Essay Competition on “My Vision Corruption Free India” & “ஊழலற்ற இந்தியா எனது பார்வை” was conducted for our students and the following students secured first prize.
1.    Ms. B. Akilandeswari, III B.Sc., Maths – First Prize in English.
2.    Ms. K. Mahalakshmi, II B.SC., Chemistry – First Prize in Tamil.
On 2.11.2017 (Thursday), a special lecture was organized by NSS Units.    The Chief Guests Mr. V.S.A.Rajaram Mohan Roy, Manager and                            Mr. R. Balasubramanian, Assistant Manager from Pandyan Grama Bank, Kovilpatti gave a special lecture on Vigilance. Dr. S. Krishnasamy, Principal delivered a Presidential Address. They stated that India is known for many good things in the world, but is lacking clean image due to endemic corruption practices in various domains.  Establishing clean image for India is the need of the hour and it is the responsibility of each and every individual to build this.   Dr. B. Makesh Kumar, NSS Programme Officer welcomed the gathering and proposed vote of thanks.


RASHTRIYA SANKALP DIWAS AND RASHTRIYA EKTA DIWAS



           

            A combined programme of ‘Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas’ and ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ was observed at G. Venkataswamy Naidu College, Kovilpatti on 31st October 2017, organized by National Service Scheme Unit No. 51 & 52.

On the occasion, Dr. S. Krishnasamy, Principal administered the Pledge of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity day). The day was observed every year to pay tribute to Vallabhbhai Patel, who was an instrumental in keeping India united.   The Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas or National Re-dedication Day was observed every year to pay homage to the first woman Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi who had worked dedicatedly to safeguard national integration of the country. In this connection NSS volunteers took out a rally to mark the occasion.  Dr. S. Krishnasamy, Principal flagged off the rally. The students formed human chain to accentuate the National Unity.
