One day workshop on Disaster
Management was conducted in collaboration with National Disaster Management
Authority, Tamil Nadu. G. Arumugam, Training
Officer, South Regional, India National Disaster Management Authority, New
Delhi. This workshop was conducted in two sessions. Morning session was focused
on various aspects of disaster, awareness and importance, types of disasters
[man made & natural], post disaster precaution and activities, importance
of first aid, elements of first aid. In the Afternoon Practical sessions were
about - Do & Don’ts during and after the disaster, demonstration of
different rescue tools were demonstrated with the help of student volunteers. A
group of students trained for such emergency situation. Precautions to be taken
in helping victims, procedures to be followed after the arrival of medical
team, transportation of victim to nearby medical facility and safe areas, were
explained and demonstrated with the help of presentation.
