A
leprosy awareness camp was organized in connection with world leprosy
day. Dr. Yamuna, Mmedical Officer,
Deputy Director of Medical Services (Leprosy), Thoothukudi created awareness
about leprosy and she said leprosy
was on the verge of elimination. Dr.
Gurusamy, Medical Officer, Ilayarasanendal elaborated on the various welfare measures
available to patients. Later, leprosy pledge was taken by the Volunteers and
guest. The NSS Volunteers actively interacted with doctors and understood the
importance of removing the social stigma attached to leprosy patients.
